BABATUNDE AKINLOYE
BIOGRAPHY
Babatunde was born and raised in Los Angeles where he currently resides as he pursues his passion and career in filmmaking. For the past five years, he has assisted Oscar®-winning Producer Yvett Merino on multiple films at Walt Disney Animation Studios (WDAS), working closely with the show’s leadership teams, internal studio and external partners on each project. Babatunde is currently the Story Production Supervisor for WDAS 2025 feature animation release.
After earning his M.F.A. from USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program in May 2018, Babatunde spent a year at MACRO where he supported three creative producers, essentially covering MACRO's entire film and television slate in all phases of development and production.
In Summer 2017, Babatunde was selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to participate in the inaugural cohort of Academy Gold, a Talent Development & Inclusion Initiative created to infuse the film industry with underrepresented talent. He also spent the summer of 2017 interning at Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures with their VFX and Post Production team, where he was able to learn and support the production workflow of Disney's live action films.
In 2008, Babatunde graduated from UCLA with a Bachelors of Arts in Film, Television, and Digital Media with a specialization in Documentary Production. While at UCLA, he participated in two independent research programs—the UCLA Undergraduate Research Scholars Program and the Ronald E. McNair Research Scholars Program. Upon commencement, he was honored with the distinguished UCLA Chancellor’s Service Award for his efforts and commitment to both leadership and service throughout his undergrad tenure. Through Babatunde's service work, he significantly developed his leadership skills and the capability to effectively organize masses of people in a collaborative effort towards one goal, a vital skill for the collaborative nature of filmmaking.
